Embedded Engineering Manager
Requirements:
• Manage the activities of Embedded Sustaining Group within the overall software development organization. Supervision of approximately 5-15 development engineers including day to day personnel management issues and performance appraisals.
• Specific responsibilities include:
o Identify and help implement overall embedded development process improvements.
o Be the Development Release Lead for patch releases. This includes release planning / scheduling and management of the entire development process for a release from release plan and initial estimation, functional specifications, design documents, unit test, system (integration) test through QA test.
o Work with other development management to appropriately assign development resources to the correct programs in view of the overall engineering priorities.
o Work with the Customer Support organization to help identify better ways to emulate the customer's environment in our internal lab and to identify different methods of testing to identify more issues before they hit the field.
o Work closely with Software and Hardware Development lead engineers to coordinate the activities of development throughout a release. Take an active role in coming up with a software configuration management strategy for a release that best meets the needs of all groups.
• Preference to US residents or citizens willing to relocate or are already in China
• Travel requirement of minimum 3 months a year in US
• Location Shenzhen, China



Minimum qualifications:

• 4 year technical degree (preferably in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering).
• Fundamental understanding of software and the software process.
• 5 years as a first level Embedded Engineering Manager for a complex embedded communications product (something similar to a CMTS in scope).
• Ability to lead and motivate a group of engineers.
• Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
• Preferred qualifications include:
o Prior experience managing an SQA team for a CMTS (or very similar) product.
o IP, DOCSIS, PacketCable knowledge.
• Fluent English is a must
