EJL Wireless Research, a research firm that offers the latest and proprietary market analysis and consultation upon the wireless markets, has announced a research report that focused on the mobile handset production and shipment scenario in China during the second quarter of this year. The report suggests that shipments of handsets into China fell by 16.4 percent in the second quarter of 2008, when compared to the first quarter. EJL Wireless provides analysis quarterly and annual research reports covering the Chinese mobile handset markets, which provide the manufacturers, distributors and resellers with vital insight on the production and sales of GSM and CDMA mobile handsets within the Chinese market. A number of Chinese handset vendors have been mentioned in this research report, some of which are Changhong, Haier, Huawei, Lenovo (News - Alert), LG, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, and ZTE. Earl Lum, founder and president at EJL Wireless said that Nokia continued to dominate the GSM and overall handset market in China while Samsung moved past Motorola in GSM shipments to become the second largest vendor. Lum added that within the CDMA market, Huawei (News - Alert) reached the top supplier position after having only entered the market in Q1 of 2008. The report suggests that a continuous decrease in demand has been seen in the Chinese mobile market for Motorola (News - Alert) GSM and CDMA handsets. A drop of 75 percent has been experienced in the volume Motorola GSM handsets shipments since 2006 levels, and no indications of any recovery are visible, the report adds. Lum commented that domestic Chinese handset suppliers such as Huawei and ZTE (News - Alert) are poised to dominate the CDMA handset market going forward but remain at a significant disadvantage in the GSM market as foreign vendors captured 75 percent market share in the second quarter of 2008. EJL Wireless Research keeps a close eye on all of the aspects of the mobile market, including mobile subscribers, mobile operators, mobile handsets, mobile infrastructure and mobile content. The firm also focuses its analysis upon the RF semiconductor materials, RF semiconductor/components, subsystems and OEMs. The headquarters of EJL Wireless are located in Redwood City, Calif.
